Malbec was born in southwestern France and is grown widely across Argentina, but has also found a place in vineyards across the Garden State.

Today, we are toasting this incredible red grape, beloved for the dark, structured wines it produces. A classic Malbec will exude notes of black cherries, plums, tobacco, and spice. Its power and heft allow it to stand up to a variety of cheeses (try Gouda or Gorgonzola), meats (roasted duck), and roasted vegetables (mushrooms).

In Bordeaux, Malbec is frequently blended with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot, but it also makes a beautiful single-variety wine. New Jersey wineries with Malbecs include Hawk Haven Winery and Old York Cellars, and many more! Where have your enjoyed Malbec in New Jersey?
