Pulitzer Prize winning playwright John Patrick Shanley was a presenter at Cape May Stage’s 2023 National Playwright Symposium last spring. Students were treated to a reading of his new play “Brooklyn Laundry” which will World Premiere Off-Broadway at Manhattan Theatre Club, Feb 6th- March 31st.
Shanley’s latest play is about three sisters and a guy who runs a laundry in Brooklyn, and the sometimes savage tricks life plays on them. Tragic and funny by turns, this story will remind you what is important in life … and the sorrow and joy of fully embracing adulthood.
Cape May Stage is thrilled to continue its tradition of showcasing Shanley’s talent, following the success of his award-winning plays on our stage including “Outside Mullingar” in 2017 and ‘Doubt” in 2008.
