After beginning her career as a fish biologist, Dr. Mamie Parker broke through the glass ceiling twice, as the first African American to serve as a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service regional director (Northeast region 😎) and the first Black woman to hold the position of assistant director for Fisheries and Habitat Conservation. In retirement, Parker is dedicated to her mission of raising others up. She mentors women and people of color, encouraging them to explore the STEM fields, and actively supports legislation for hiring a more diverse workforce.
