Airfest 2024 starts today…. Please share, like, comment and tag friends to help spread the word! Here are a few tips for Day 1:
– Arrive early as the Supermarine Spitfire, Corsair FG-1D, & C-54D Spirit of Freedom will begin to arrive after 10a.m.
– The C-54D Spirit of Freedom will be set up to allow interior tours free of charge. The aircraft is a flying museum dedicated to the Berlin Airlift. This is a great opportunity to learn this important history.
– Ted Schwartz will kick off the weekend with his 1940s Radio Show throughout the day. He will have host lectures on NAS Wildwood Flight Operations & Wartime Homefront Realities at 1PM & 3PM.
– Learn about the F6F Hellcat with Museum Board Member Jim Krombach at 11 AM.
– The National Anthem and “God Bless America” will be played at 12 PM.
– The 621st Contingency Response Group from Joint Base McGuire Dix Lakehurst will be returning and setting up static displays showcasing their mission and abilities. Specialized equipment will be on display including a MRZR tactical vehicle.
– F-14 Tomcat Calverton ATG Podcast – Meet former F-14 Tomcat Aircrews. Check out the history of the F-14 inside their museum tent!
– Free face painting will take place from 11 AM to 2:30 PM with scattered breaks in between.
– Vendors, exhibitors, and a beer & wine garden will be open all day.
– We are excited to announce we will be serving local brews! Including Cape May Brewing Co., Cold Spring Brewery, Slack Tide Brewing Company, MudHen Brewing Company, and Gusto Brewing Company.
– Our friends over at the FAA Technical Center will be onsite educating on career opportunities in aviation. Make sure to drop by their table.
– There will also be Paddle Boats for kids and Axe Throwing.
– Come hungry as we have tons of great food options from our many food trucks!
– Don’t forget your comfortable walking shoes, hat, and sunscreen! Make sure to hydrate!
