As part of our 35th Anniversary Season, we shine a spotlight on Michael Carleton – an actor, director, and writer, and the former Artistic Director of Cape May Stage from 2001-2008.

During his tenure, Michael played a pivotal role in Project Encore, raising money to restore a historic church and turn it into a professional theater space. Michael and his team also secured a long-term lease with the city in the building we now know as the Robert Shackleton Playhouse, paving the way for Cape May Stage’s new home.

His play “Every Christmas Story Ever Told!” that premiered on our stage in 2003 has spread holiday cheer across the globe with more than 450 performances, while “Hyde, in the Shadows” earned a Barrymore Award nomination, showcasing Michael’s exceptional talent and storytelling prowess.

We salute Michael Carleton and all who have played a part in Cape May Stages’ history!
