Cold plunge, anyone? 🥶 It isn’t too chilly for American black ducks to take a dip. These hardy birds spend the winter in northern salt marshes, even when it’s a little frosty! They enjoy the rich nutrients that the salt marsh vegetation provides.

Salt marshes benefit all sorts of critters (including humans!), by providing habitat, absorbing storm surges, storing carbon dioxide and more. Where’s the salt marsh closest to you?

We’ve been restoring the marshes at Great Meadows Marsh National Wildlife Refuge! Check it out: https://ow.ly/hQNk50QuTqs
