“Do you even go to this school?”

In the Atlantic Ocean, sea lamprey play an important role in ocean and coastal river ecosystems. But in the wrong waters, where there are few natural predators, these voracious feeders can cause havoc. This has been the case in Lake Champlain, where invasive sea lamprey nearly wiped-out lake trout, Atlantic salmon and lake sturgeon populations. Sea lamprey feed off the bodily fluids of host fish, seriously harming or killing their victims. Fortunately, sea lamprey woundings are now at an all-time low thanks to the Lake Champlain Sea Lamprey Control Program!
