Good morning, my name is AJ and I'm a female black howler monkey!

Good morning, my name is AJ and I’m a female black howler monkey! Despite our species name, I’m not black – females stay golden, while males turn black when they become adults.💛🖤 Our species is known for our loud “howl” that you most often hear at dusk and dawn. At the Zoo, I’ll also howl when I hear the siamangs singing and when I hear a leafblower! I’m a folivore, which means I mostly eat leaves. I think the photo shows how much I LOVE my greens! Some of my favorites are Japanese knotweed and grapevine. 💚
