Happy 15th Hatchday, Esmeralda! 🥳
Esmeralda is one of two Eurasian eagle-owls that reside at the zoo. This species is found throughout Europe and Asia in a variety of forest habitats, with a particular attraction to areas with rocky cliffs. They are one of the largest owl species, with a 5-6ft wingspan. Esmeralda and her mate, Quasimodo, can be found in the wooded area near the African Savanna. Stop by and you may get lucky enough to hear them ask their most pressing question: “WHO?”
