Happy 23rd Birthday, Azure! 🥳
Azure is a hyacinth macaw, one of the largest species of parrot. They are endemic to South America in parts of Brazil, Bolivia, and Paraguay. Unlike other species, hyacinths prefer habitats with fewer trees and more open space. Azure arrived from the Philadelphia Zoo in 2005. She is usually housed next to her buddy, Brat. She has always had some issues with anxiety, but she is happy and healthy and loves it when people give her attention and talk to her. She also loves macadamia nuts and block toys!
