Happy 26th Birthday, Mr. Kookaburra! 🥳

There are five species of kookaburra, all native to Australia, New Guinea, and the Aru Islands. Mr. Kookaburra is a species called a laughing kookaburra, known for its loud call. They even have a song dedicated to them! Although kookaburras are closely related to kingfishers, they rarely eat fish, instead preferring small rodents, snakes, and insects. Due to his age, Mr. Kookaburra will likely be off-exhibit in a heated building for the winter. See you in the spring!
