Happy 8th Birthday, Bart! 🥳
Bart is a member of our American bison herd. This species is native to North America and became the National Mammal of the United States in 2016. Bart was hand-raised by zoo staff and veterinarians when he had trouble nursing from his mom. Luckily, we were able to reintroduce him to the herd once he was old enough. He is very responsive to the zookeepers, and he is often the first to come over when they arrive!
