Happy International Gibbon Day! 🎉
Gibbons are known as the singing apes. They are monogamous and use their song to announce their territory to rivals. Some species, like the siamangs in the video, have throat pouches that expand to help amplify their song!
Leela and Merlin are siamangs, the largest species of gibbon. Most days you can catch their song, which lasts about 20 minutes, between 10am and 11am. 🎶 To learn more about gibbon conservation, visit gibbonconservationsociety.org!
