Happy World Snake Day! ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ‰

Snakes get a bad rap, but it turns out they are a vital part of ecosystems around the world! They are premier mousers and help to reduce the spread of disease by keeping rodent populations under control. They also eat critters that damage crops, helping to protect our food supply.

Meet Houdini, a carpet python at the zoo! This species is endemic to Australia and nearby islands. They inhabit many areas near human populations and by eating rats, help control the spread of disease!
