Happy World Whale Day!
Today we remember that these gentle giants face a massive amount of threats at Sea!
-ship strikes
-entanglements
-plastics
-pollution
-industrialization of the ocean
While we enjoy viewing the playful behavior of whaes and dolphins, we always highlight the issues facing these beautiful creatures and raise awareness about what we all can do to help!
All video was taken adhering to Whale SENSE and the Atlantic Region guidelines for whale watching. This humpback whale in the video swam over to our vessel which was at a full stop, drifitng slowly on a calm, foggy afternoon. Always remeber to approach with caution and that all Marine Mammals are federally protected by the Marine Mammal Protection Act and not to be harrased.
