Happy Zookeeper Week: Meet our Hoofstock Team! 🐫🦙

Our team takes care of our Bactrian and dromedary camels, llama, alpacas, white-tailed deer, bison, African-crested porcupines, and North American river otters.

Due to the size of our hoofstock species and herds, we spend a lot of time cleaning large habitats and barns. In an effort to provide natural enrichment to these herbivores, we spend a lot of time cutting browse (edible plants) in order to offer a variety of novel food choices.

Our small mammals require creativity and new ideas to keep them enriched. Both the porcupines and the otters can be a bit destructive with enrichment items, so we are constantly searching for new, safe items to use to bring out their natural behaviors.

Find out more about what it’s like to be a hoofstock keeper in our stories!
