Hey, it’s World Turtle Day. This is my little buddy Christopher. He is a Japanese Reeves turtle. This is a domesticated species that does very well in captivity, unlike the local painted turtles and red belly turtles that do best outside in real sunlight. Christopher is very patient with the children that come to visit the nature center. He happily lets our visitors look at him. Sometimes the children think he’s dancing underwater as he slowly moves his four legs. I even found one little girl trying to dance and sing with him.
