Hi, I'm Bataar, a snow leopard!

Jul 9, 2024 | Cape May County Zoo

Hi, I’m Bataar, a snow leopard! You may be wondering… how do snow leopards fare in the hot weather? Well, first of all, even though we are adapted to (and prefer) colder weather, temperatures reach over 100 degrees in our native range! So, it’s not something we can’t handle. Like most of the zoo animals, our zookeepers provide us with ways to beat the heat. We get a sprinkler, frozen treats, and even 24/7 access to our air-conditioned den! So, if you stop by the Zoo on a 90-degree day and are wondering why you can’t find us, it’s just that we are being smart and hanging inside in the AC! 😆
