If you get tuned in to birds, you may discover something peculiar: a forest can be a very quiet place. Far more exciting are shorelines, wetlands, the edges of meadows, and second growth scrublands — basically, any place where one habitat is colliding with another. The best birding spots are a jumble of habitats! Prairie warblers like this guy enjoy shrubby habitats ranging from pine forests, scrub oak barrens, regenerating forests, and borders of forest and prairie.
