Let the spooky season begin 🕷️

The female wolf spider is a doting mama, attaching her egg sac to spinnerets and carrying it with her until they hatch. Once the babies are born (usually more than 100!) they ride on their mother’s back and stay there for weeks until they are fully developed and ready to go off on their own.

Pro-tip: If you find one of these mamas in your home and you want to avoid a mass spiderling exodus all over your walls or floor, the careful catch-and-release method may be your best bet. The tools needed are a large cup and sturdy piece of paper, and whomever you volun-tell to take care of it…
