Marshes and sea level

Jan 12, 2024 | Cape May

Sea level rise driven by climate change poses a significant threat to the health and stability of our coastal salt marshes. More frequent inundation during storms and sunny-day (or nuisance) flooding are testing marsh resilience and leading to loss. Through the impactful work of the Seven Mile Island Innovation Lab – our partnership with the Philadelphia District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and NJ DEP – we’re identifying solutions and taking steps to restore marshes, increase marsh resilience, reverse decades of damage, and help our wetlands respond to rising seas. Stay tuned to learn more about this groundbreaking work!
