Mere feet from the entrance to Bowie State University in Maryland lie hundreds of forested acres encompassing wetlands, trails, and portions of the Patuxent River. But despite the proximity to campus, few students have set foot in these woodlands simply because they don’t know they can.
Now with support from the Service’s Chesapeake WILD Grants program, the oldest Historically Black University in Maryland has partnered with the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay to transform these forgotten woodlands into a community space for recreation, learning, and encouraging green career paths for students of color. https://ow.ly/faCa50SCq53
