Our dear friend, actor and playwright, James Rana reminded us in a call this morning that it was in November, ten years ago that the rubber duck was inducted to the National Toy Hall of Fame! Which brings us to the photo below. . . James was one of the original members of the Broadway cast of the TONY Award-winning musical THE BAND’S VISIT. While having a day off from the Broadway show, James visited us in Cape May and purchased several of our policeman duckies. He took them back to New York, hand painted each one to represent the costumes of the show and gave them as gifts to his fellow cast members! He even gave us one with a Playbill autographed by each member of the original cast! This gift is permanently displayed at Bath Time and we frequently and happily tell the story to the many people who ask about it when visiting us.
How happy we are to have a friend like James. And how honored we are to see so many duckies go to loving homes!
