A win for wetlands in West Virginia!
We’re celebrating the transfer of “Big Cove” from The Nature Conservancy to the Service! The property expands upon the largest wetland complex in West Virginia and in the southern Appalachians, protects fish and wildlife habitat, and is central to the region’s clean water supply. This new acquisition connects a previously isolated tract with the rest of Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge, expanding wildlife conservation efforts and recreational opportunities.
