Fun Fact Friday: Tomorrow is the October World Migratory Bird Day and October Big Day. Organized by a partnership between the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals, the African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbird Agreement, and the non-profit organization, Environment for the Americas, World Migratory Bird Day is a global campaign to raise awareness about the lives and plights of migratory birds and the need to conserve them through local work and international cooperation.

The October Big Day is an event organized by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology in honor of World Migratory Bird Day and in celebration of birds all around the world.

Both of these events encourage people to get out and find birds wherever you are, and to take the opportunity to participate in conservation of these magnificent creatures – whether through direct action, education, or contributions to organizations dedicated to their conservation.

Wherever you are, for however long you like, get out tomorrow and enjoy the wonders of our wild feathered companions, and then take a moment to discover how you can help. Together, we can all make a difference.
