The cottontail rabbit is very familiar to most suburbanites, and even some city folk. Although often considered garden pests, cottontails can be quite amusing, especially during their spring time, high-stepping courtship. During courtship, the males leap and chase each other and try to attract the attention of the ladies. It all looks like fun and games for the most part. This bunny has become very tame, allowing me to approach within 10 feet. I assume since the chickens are scared, she thinks that she has no reason to be scared. I even find her sitting on the front steps. It is magical to have wildlife in your backyard.
