Turtle on the move!! Blanding’s turtles are movers and can occupy large areas in their search of both wetland and sandy upland habitats. Due to late maturity, around 20 years, and the danger of road crossings through their habitats, these turtles are really facing an uphill climb for survival. Want to help? Keep an eye out for turtles on the road, help them across the street in the direction they were heading (only if it’s safe for you to do so), and never take them home. Removing one single turtle can impact an entire generation. Video generously provided by Mark Lotterhand.

When this happens, it’s usually because the owner only shared it with a small group of people, changed who can see it or it’s been deleted.
