What’s 450,000 acres, spread across 12 states, and an important home to fish, wildlife, and people — the northern forest!
Recently, this broad landscape — which supports floodplain habitat as well as wetland, riparian, and forest ecosystems — got a massive chunk of funding, through the Inflation Reduction Act, for habitat restoration projects. Whether creating green (nature-inspired) infrastructure, conducting an inventory of forests to further future decisions for the landscape, or ensuring that projects are inclusive and collaborative, prioritizing ecological and social needs, these projects will provide diverse benefits for all life that calls the northern forest home.
